Plainfield (Ill.) Nazareth Academy junior defensive lineman Devonte Dunn picked up his first three offers just weeks after winning the Roadrunners’ second consecutive state football championship.

Dunn’s early offers are from Miami-Ohio, Indiana State, and North Dakota St.

“The best part about the offers is knowing that the hard work pays off,” Dunn said. “I want to go to college, and I know that my work is paying off and I appreciate that.”

Dunn stands 6-2, 270-pounds and is still working on adding weight before his senior season. He’s getting some strong recruiting looks, including from some Power 5 programs.

“I have heard from Iowa State, Toledo, Iowa, Illinois and some other schools as well,” Dunn said.

Illinois has invited Dunn down to Champaign for junior day this coming weekend.

“I am looking forward to seeing the coaches and I want to hear more about the academics and how they have been training during this offseason,” Dunn said. “So hopefully I can get down there and see what they have been up to.”

Dunn said he would also like to visit Michigan State and Iowa State, as well as the three schools that have offered.

Michigan State and Illinois are schools that Dunn would like to increase the amount of contact he’s had with the coaching staffs.

“Hopefully I can hear a bit more from Coach Burton at Michigan State, and at Illinois it doesn’t matter which coach I hear from but I would like to talk to them more,” Dunn said.

Dunn will return next fall as one of the top senior in the state of Illinois, and he wants to continue the success he and his team had in 2015.

“I know that my job isn’t finished,” he said. “I’ve got another year left with my senior year and I just want to finish it up.”
